The ambit APC04 is a compact synthesizer designed to be playable, flexible and simple. It produces a glitchy chiptune sound which comes from a stepped tone generator circuit, also known as the Atari Punk Console.
This isn't your average synthesizer. It has a character all its own.
I am experimenting with different colors, materials, and graphic rendering processes to create unique pieces. Here are some of my recent builds:
On the face of the APC04 there are two two arcade buttons, each with a smaller latching button associated by the graphic outlines on the case.
The arcade button on the right temporarily turns on the power while the latching power button turns the power on indefinitely.
The arcade button on the left temporarily turns on the light sensor while the light latching button turns on the light sensor indefinitely.
In the center is the light sensor. This affects the oscillators sound depending on the amount of light that the sensor picks up.
The two knobs give manual control over the pitch and tone.
On the back of the case, there is a quarter inch audio output, a power adapter input and two eighth inch control voltage inputs. The CV inputs work well with eurorack format modules and hardware sequencers with voltages between 0-8 volts. The CV inputs control the pitch and tone of the circuit. These inputs do not track 1V per octave. Experimenting with CV signals will prove very rewarding.
